At Anavo’s Newark Care Home and across our homes, we believe in the importance of bringing people together and embedding ourselves in the heart of the community. That spirit of togetherness was on full display when our home opened its doors for the Big Scottish Breakfast in support of the STV Children’s Appeal.
The dining room was filled with the smell of breakfast rolls, laughter, and generosity as residents, staff, families and local supporters came together to raise funds for the appeal. Their efforts will help support school breakfast clubs across Scotland, ensuring children can start their day with a hearty and healthy meal before the morning bell rings.
It’s a cause that means a great deal to everyone at Anavo’s Newark Care Home. “All the residents love it and it is really important to support the STV Children’s Appeal,” said Activities Co-ordinator Margaret McClure. “Helping children is something that means a lot to them. We’re putting on a party with breakfast, music and entertainment and everyone is having such a great time.”
Margaret organised the event alongside fellow Activities Co-ordinator Carolann Cunninghame, and together they created a day full of fun and community spirit.
Representatives from the STV Children’s Appeal joined in the celebration to show their support. Emma Devers, STV Children’s Appeal Fundraising and Events Manager, said, “We are very excited that Newark Care Home is supporting us and would like to thank them for their support. We’re also delighted to partner with Kellogg’s, who are matching every £1 raised to help ensure every child has breakfast before going to school.”
The Newark Care Home team raised hundreds of pounds on the day and this amazing result shows what can happen when people in the community come together to make a difference. To learn more about the services and life at Newark Care Home, please click here.
