Our Care Find out more

Where to start?

New to care? Arranging care can feel daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Our care goes both ways. We focus on the resident but also the family members and their needs too. Here are the steps we recommend when searching for a suitable care home for a loved one…

1

Talk to friends
and family

Start your care home search by reaching out to friends and family. Their insights could be invaluable, as they might have recommendations or personal experiences that could guide your decision. By gathering their perspectives, you can gain a more comprehensive understanding of the available options and potential considerations.

2

Shortlist
some homes

Once you’ve gathered recommendations and conducted initial research, it’s time to narrow down your options. Create a shortlist of care homes that best match your unique preferences and requirements. Consider factors like location, facilities, staff-to-resident ratio, and reviews. This shortlist will serve as a focused starting point for your further exploration, tailored to your specific needs.

3

Visit
(at meal times!)

Arrange visits to the shortlisted care homes, ideally during meal times. This enables you to immerse yourself in the environment, assess the quality of meals, and observe interactions between residents and staff. Take note of the home’s cleanliness, comfort, and overall ambiance. Interact with staff and residents to gain a deeper understanding of the community’s dynamics.

4

Make a
final decision

After visiting each care home and gathering all necessary information, take the time to reflect on your personal experiences. Your unique perspective, coupled with factors such as the atmosphere, level of care provided, staff friendliness, and resident engagement, will guide you towards a decision that feels right for you or your loved one’s needs and preferences.
