Anavo’s Newark Care Home is recruiting four Senior Care Coordinators – Unit Leads, offering experienced care professionals an opportunity to develop their leadership skills while remaining closely involved in residents’ everyday care.
Each successful candidate will help lead an allocated community within the home, coordinating colleagues and working with residents, families and external professionals to ensure care reflects each person’s needs, wishes and choices.
Responsibilities will include providing visible leadership on shift, supporting and coaching colleagues, leading care reviews and overseeing the quality of care plans and records. The new team members will also contribute to quality improvements, helping residents receive consistent, thoughtful support.
The opportunities come as Newark prepares to welcome residents into its newly refurbished community, giving successful applicants the chance to help shape daily life within that part of the home.
The difference this approach can make is reflected in the experience of Pauline, who has lived at Newark since 2018. When she shared her wish to visit Spain, the team worked alongside her and her social worker to make it happen.
Pauline chose Senior Care Assistant Margaret and Activities Coordinator Angie to accompany her on her first holiday abroad, aged 58. Careful preparation included support with her first passport application and visits to the airport so she could become familiar with what to expect.
The team also helped Pauline return to swimming for the first time since she was 13. She went on to enjoy swimming, a boat trip and a day at the zoo during her stay in Torrevieja, returning home eager to travel again.
Her story illustrates how understanding what matters to a resident, and working together to support their choices, can create opportunities to enjoy new experiences.
AnneMarie, Home Manager at Newark Care Home, for approval:
“We’re looking for four people who want to take the next step in their care careers and help others do their best work.
“These roles combine leadership with the relationships and everyday care that make this work so rewarding. We want people who will get to know our residents, listen to their families and support colleagues with confidence and kindness.
“Pauline’s holiday is a lovely example of what can happen when we take someone’s wishes seriously. With our newly refurbished community opening, this is an exciting time to join Newark and help shape the experiences we offer.”
Applicants should hold an SVQ or NVQ Level 3 in Care, or equivalent qualifications or experience appropriate to the role. Strong communication and organisational skills, demonstrable leadership ability and a genuine interest in supporting residents are essential.
Previous supervisory experience, dementia training and experience in care planning, medication handling or quality improvement would also be welcome.
