A Whitchurch care home has achieved independent certification recognising its high standards of care, safety and employment practices.
Sandstone Brook Care Home, on Wrexham Road, has been awarded a certificate of compliance following an independent inspection by Care Inspections UK (CIUK), the UK’s only accredited care home inspection body.
It follows an assessment against British Standard BS8606:2019, which sets out requirements relating to the provision of residential care services.
Sandstone Brook, part of Anavo Group, opened in April 2025 and provides nursing, respite and specialist dementia care.
The certificate of compliance provides independent recognition of the home’s commitment to maintaining high standards across its operation, with the inspection examining areas including care, safety and employment practices.
Sue Dutton, registered manager at Sandstone Brook, said: “Achieving this is a wonderful endorsement of the hard work and commitment of our whole team.
“Since Sandstone Brook opened last year, our focus has been on creating a home where residents feel safe, comfortable and well supported, while maintaining high standards in everything we do.
“Having that independently assessed against a recognised British Standard is particularly important and gives residents and their families additional reassurance about the quality of the service we provide.”
The achievement follows recognition for Anavo Group’s Berehill House, also in Whitchurch which last year became the first care home in Hampshire to receive the certification.
Kevin Groombridge, chief executive of Care Inspections UK, said: “Independent inspection and certification provides care homes with an opportunity to demonstrate that their standards have been rigorously assessed against an established and recognised benchmark.
“We congratulate Sue and the entire team at Sandstone Brook on achieving their certificate of compliance. For a relatively new home to demonstrate this level of commitment to standards is a significant achievement and reflects the importance the team places on providing a safe, well-managed and high-quality environment for residents.”
