Anavo care homes secure independent quality certification

Two Anavo care homes have achieved independent certification after successfully completing inspections against a recognised British Standard for residential care services.

Sandstone Brook care home in Whitchurch and Lindridge care home in Hove have both received certificates of compliance from Care Inspections UK (CIUK), the UK’s only accredited care home inspection body.

The homes were independently assessed against British Standard BS8606:2019, which sets out requirements for the provision of residential care services and covers areas including care, safety and employment practices.

Sandstone Brook, on Wrexham Road, opened in April 2025 and provides nursing, respite and specialist dementia care.

The certifications follow the same recognition for Anavo’s Berehill House, also in Whitchurch, which last year became the first care home in Hampshire to achieve the certification.

Sue Dutton, registered manager at Sandstone Brook, said: “Achieving this is a wonderful endorsement of the hard work and commitment of our whole team.

“Since Sandstone Brook opened last year, our focus has been on creating a home where residents feel safe, comfortable and well supported, while maintaining high standards in everything we do.

“Having that independently assessed against a recognised British Standard is particularly important and gives residents and their families additional reassurance about the quality of the service we provide.”

Lindridge, on Laburnum Avenue in Hove, provides residential, nursing, specialist dementia and respite care for people with a range of healthcare needs.

Alex Mendonca, registered manager at Lindridge, said: “Families placing a loved one into a care home need to have confidence that the service is committed to maintaining high standards, so having an independent organisation come into Lindridge and assess what we do is extremely valuable.

“This certification belongs to the entire team. Our colleagues work incredibly hard to make Lindridge somewhere residents can feel comfortable, supported and very much at home, while ensuring that the care and systems behind that are of a consistently high standard.

“We are delighted to have achieved the certificate of compliance and it gives us another independent measure against which we can continue to develop the service.”

Kevin Groombridge, chief executive of Care Inspections UK, said: “Independent inspection gives care providers an opportunity to demonstrate that their standards have been assessed objectively against an established benchmark.

“Achieving certification requires homes to demonstrate compliance against a recognised British Standard, and both Sandstone Brook and Lindridge have successfully completed that process.

“It is also about encouraging homes to continually review and maintain their standards, which ultimately benefits residents and their families.”
