Anavo’s Partnership with Myley: Creating Meaningful Experiences for Residents

At Anavo Group, creating meaningful moments for residents is about so much more than organising activities, it’s about helping people continue to have experiences, maintain connections, and feel fulfilled.

Across our homes, dedicated Activities Coordinators organise engaging daily activities and experiences for residents to enjoy. Alongside this, Anavo Group partners with Myley to support the planning and organisation of larger day trips, with residents regularly enjoying one to two outings each month.

From organising transport and planning itineraries to carrying out location assessments, Myley helps make these experiences accessible, safe, and stress free for both residents and our care teams. For many residents, getting out and about can become increasingly difficult over time. Whether because of mobility challenges, health conditions, or simply the logistics involved, experiences many of us take for granted can suddenly feel out of reach.

Through this partnership, residents across homes including Surbitonian Gardens, Alexandra Mill and Sandstone Brook are rediscovering the simple joy of getting out and about, from seaside visits and theatre trips to once in a lifetime experiences they never imagined possible.

We sat down with Matt Hamblin from Myley to talk about how these experiences are transforming everyday life for residents, families, and care teams alike.

For those who may not know, what is Myley and what do you offer?

Myley provide bespoke tours designed specifically for care homes, supporting residents to enjoy safe, accessible, and meaningful days out.

The team manages the full experience from start to finish, including planning trips with the homes with your own dedicated tour scheduler, carrying out location assessments, providing the 8 seater minibuses with a driver, marketing packs for the homes and impact reporting for the care opertators.

Importantly, the Myley team are far more than drivers. We call them tour leaders because they’re there to fully support the day. They know the locations, where the facilities are, where to park, and they help everything run smoothly. It’s about removing stress and allowing staff and residents to simply enjoy the experience.

Why is that level of support so important in care?

Organising outings for residents with different needs can feel like a huge responsibility for care teams and activity coordinators.

By taking care of all the logistics, Myley removes that pressure, allowing teams to focus on what matters most, spending quality time with residents, sharing experiences together, and creating moments that genuinely matter.

What kind of trips do residents go on?

There are very few limits when it comes to the experiences Myley can create. From trips to the beach, zoos, aquariums and theatres, to festive outings like Christmas lights, every experience is centred around what residents enjoy most.

Some of the most memorable moments come through Myley’s “Perfect Day” initiative, where homes can apply to create a dream experience for residents.

We’ve organised helicopter rides, visits to Edgbaston Cricket Ground for lifelong cricket fans, and even a track day experience for a 99-year-old resident. It’s about making meaningful moments happen, experiences people may never have thought possible again.

The smallest moments can have the biggest impact

While some outings are unforgettable bucket-list experiences, the feedback residents give is often incredibly simple.

One of the most powerful things we hear is people saying how nice it feels to have the wind on their face again.

For many residents, simply being outdoors, feeling fresh air, hearing the sea, or sitting outside in the rain for a few moments is something they may not have experienced in a long time. That sense of freedom and connection to the outside world can have a huge impact on wellbeing.

Residents also enjoy having something exciting to look forward to. When trips are planned in advance and shared around the home, they create anticipation and excitement, becoming a real talking point for everyone.

How do these experiences support families too?

The impact of these outings extends far beyond residents themselves. Visiting a loved one in a care home can sometimes feel emotionally difficult, particularly when communication becomes more challenging due to conditions like dementia or after a stroke.

These trips create shared experiences, something families can talk about and connect over.

Families will often meet their loved ones at the destination, turning a regular visit into a meaningful day together and creating lasting memories for everyone involved.

What does the future look like for Myley?

Miley has exciting plans to continue making experiences more accessible and personalised for residents.

The organisation is exploring the introduction of wheelchair accessible taxis alongside its minibuses, creating opportunities for more flexible one to one trips.

That could mean attending appointments, going out for lunch with family, or simply enjoying more spontaneous outings.

There are also plans to move towards becoming a seven day service, helping more families get involved at weekends and creating even more opportunities for residents to stay connected to the world around them.

Ultimately, the focus is on giving people more choice, more independence, and more opportunities to enjoy life.

Why do partnerships like this matter?

Care is about much more than meeting practical needs, it’s about quality of life.

Experiences, connection, independence and joy all play an important role in wellbeing, no matter someone’s age or stage of life.

By helping residents continue doing the things they love, while creating opportunities for new experiences and lasting memories, partnerships like this help people live fuller, more meaningful lives.
