Residents at Spiers Care Home in Beith have enjoyed a ‘Wild West’ themed day arranged by the home’s Activities and Care team.
Country and western music got the party started. Staff and residents dressed up as sheriffs or as deputies, flashing their badges authoritatively.
The home was transformed into a Wild West set, with saloon doors and ‘Wanted’ posters displayed everywhere. Residents loved entering the room through the swinging door in a dramatic way, just like in old western movies. A mix of music from western films and country singers was played throughout the day.
Michael Deadman, the Home’s Activities Coordinator, said: “The day turned out so well, with the residents involved in choosing their favourite country music. They joined in, danced, sang along and took their sheriffs’ roles very seriously.
At the end of the show, everyone tucked into a cowboy’s favourite, pie’n’beans, washed down with a drink from the saloon, prepared by the home’s Chef. The delicious spread of Wild West-themed dishes went down a storm.”
, operated by Anavo Group, provides engaging and varied activities for the residents. The home offers nursing and dementia care. It has particular expertise in assisting residents with specific medical needs with a team of highly skilled registered nurses.
