At Anavo care homes, care goes far beyond the walls of our home. It’s about people, relationships and moments that truly matter.
On Saturday 5th July, our wonderful manager at Alexandra Mill, Stephanie Sheer, went over and above to make sure one of our much-loved residents, Sylvia Cope (fondly known as Nana Boo), could be part of a day she’ll never forget – her granddaughter’s wedding.
Knowing how much it meant to Nana Boo to be there, Stephanie personally took time out of her day and evening to accompany her to the ceremony. From helping her get ready, to being by her side throughout the celebrations, it was all about making sure Nana Boo could share in the joy and pride of watching her granddaughter say “I do” – not missing a single moment of the special day.
Alexandra Mill Manager Stephanie commented, “Seeing your loved ones get married or celebrate a special occasion is something everyone should have the chance to experience. Being in a care home, doesn’t mean residents can’t attend events like these. Attending this precious family moment meant so much to Sylvia, and it meant the world to me to help make it happen and see her so happy. It was a privilege to escort her.”
It was a beautiful day filled with love, laughter, and a few happy tears – and that extra touch of sparkle that only true care can bring.
Sylvia’s family were so grateful and shared their gratitude with Stephanie herself saying, “Nana Boo couldn’t have come without you Steph, so thank you.”
Moments like this are what real care looks like. At Anavo, we don’t just support our residents, we bring the spark that keeps them connected to the people, family and the moments they love most.

Caring for those you love can be tough. But you need to be kind to yourself, too.
