We are delighted to share the heart warming story of Alexandra Mill’s resident Irene Schofield, who celebrated her 105th birthday on 30th September surrounded by her loved ones and some very special guests.
The milestone was marked in true style at Alexandra Mill, where Irene was joined by family, friends, and the Mayor of Crewe, Sally Graham. Together they opened birthday cards, including a very special one from Their Majesties The King and Queen.
What made the day so memorable was that it was fulfilled by Irene’s own birthday wishes. She welcomed a visit from the Cheshire Fire & Rescue crew, raised a glass of Prosecco with cheese and tea cakes, and enjoyed a live acoustic set by her favourite guitarist, Paul Walker. Later, she tucked into her all-time favourite dinner, lamb chops with mash, plenty of gravy and lemon drizzle cake to finish.
Wearing a sparkling tiara, Irene enjoyed afternoon tea and reflected on the day. “I am happy and love my tiara, I am very blessed,” she said with a smile. When asked about her secret to such a long and happy life, her advice was simple: “Keep breathing, eat plain food with vegetables and stay healthy.”
For the Alexandra Mill team, it was an honour to celebrate alongside Irene. Home Manager Stephanie Sheer shared: “Irene has thoroughly loved the afternoon of celebrations, and we feel honoured to have taken part in her very special day.”
This celebration is just one example of how our dedicated team goes above and beyond to bring happiness and that extra spark to the lives of our residents. From special occasions to weekly activities and outings, Anavo staff are committed to creating experiences that make life at Alexandra Mill fulfilling.
