Newlyweds Visit Grandpa at Surbitonian Gardens After Saying “I Do”

At Anavo, we believe that every day has the potential to be extraordinary — and Sunday 29th June was one of those truly special days.

The team at our Surbitonian Gardens care home were honoured to welcome the radiant newlyweds, Becky and Kirsty, who chose to spend part of their wedding with us. Fresh from their celebration the previous day and dressed in their stunning wedding outfits, the couple made a very meaningful stop: to visit Fred, Becky’s beloved grandpa.

Our lovely carer, Alice brought resident Fred to greet the newly wedded couple at Reception to the sound of the wedding march playing. It was a moment that words can hardly do justice. Fred’s joy was unmistakable — his face lit up the moment he saw his granddaughter and her new wife walk through the doors. The love and pride in the room were infectious, spreading to our residents and team members alike. It brought tears to all our eyes. Everyone felt privileged to be part of such a tender family moment.

Laughter, warm embraces, and a few happy tears filled the afternoon. Residents shared in the joy aiding in making Becky and Kirsty’s wedding day one to remember. Reminiscing about their own wedding days, creating beautiful intergenerational connections reminded us all of the enduring power of love.

A note from Becky, one of the newlyweds, ‘From Kirsty and I, we had a lovely day with grandpa. Alice and the team were perfect. And Lucy’s food was incredible.’

We’re so grateful to Becky and Kirsty for allowing us to be a part of their day, and we wish them a lifetime of happiness, adventure, and unwavering love.

Lesley, Becky’s mum thanked the whole Surbitonian Gardens team with a heart-warming message, ‘Thank you to everyone involved for making this such a special occasion and the perfect end to their wedding weekend.
