Lancing Beach Resident Ron Horne Celebrates His 101st Birthday

Anavo’s Lancing Beach was filled with music and celebration as much-loved resident Ron Horne marked his remarkable 101st birthday.

Ron celebrated with friends and family at a special party held in the private dining room, with entertainment provided by his favourite singer.

Born in Birmingham on August 5, 1925, Ron has led a long and fascinating life. During the Second World War, he worked in radio communications before making it his career and joining Cable & Wireless.

Ron and his family moved to Chichester in the early 1960s, where he worked in local government. He later became a rent officer in Brighton and Hove, a role he continued in until his retirement.

Music and entertainment have always played an important part in Ron’s life. For many years, he was a semi-professional entertainer alongside his father, Frank Horne. Known on the circuit as Frank and Ron Lloyd, the pair performed at working men’s clubs and small theatres.

Lancing Beach Home Manager Fiona White said: “It was a real privilege to celebrate Ron’s 101st birthday with him. He is a much-loved member of our community, and it was wonderful to see him surrounded by friends and family while enjoying such a special occasion. Everyone at Lancing Beach wishes Ron many more happy and memorable moments.”
